KAŞ is a charming town with a total population of 47.594 with 5 towns and 48 villages in Antalya. It is 192 km from Antalya and 106 km from Fethiye. The district is adjacent to Fethiye with Eşen Stream in the west, Demre in the east, Elmalı Town in the north and Meis Island in the south. The area of the district is 2231 km2 and the length of the coast is 70 km. It is possible to come across tourists every day of the year in Kas, which is a small tourism town. According to the information, documents and archaeological findings obtained from Kaş and its region, Kaş was known as Habessos or Habesa in the Lycian language and was called Antiphellos in the ancient times. Later, the surroundings of Kaş known as Andifli, surrounded by mountains and the deep blue Mediterranean right in front of it and the presence of the island of Meis right across gave it a distinct beauty, for this reason it was named Kaş. Kas is a unique place where you can spend an unforgettable holiday.

Ancient Structures

The open air theater that has survived from the ancient city Antiphellos is from the Hellenistic period. The theater has 26 steps and is built on a slope overlooking the sea. Agora is located on the southern slope of the city. Basilica is next to the theater. Only a small portion of the walls that once surrounded Antiphellos have survived. In addition to these, on the slope of the mountain in the north-east of the city, there are Lycian inscriptions, rock tombs and tombstones resembling the Gothic style, and the Lions Tomb with Lycian inscription (Mausoleum) and a house with a height of 3.70 meters adorned by the relief of 24 girls in the northeast of the Amphitheater. there is a type of tomb.
